Angeles City Cabinetmaker Building European Style Kitchen Cabinets, Office Cabinets, and CR vanities

U.S. Style Cabinet Company was formed after the owners Flordeliza Selumin and Jannyn Selomin had managed another cabinet manufacturing shop out at Clark Freeport Zone for CSMFG, Inc.  There they produced cabinets and components for four years in export grade quality for a U.S. based company.

The two sisters then organized a new shop with the blessing  and assistance of their former employer to service the local market by producing export quality grade kitchen and CR cabinets.    The locally available choice for kitchen cabinets is limited to a few local cabinetmakers that are lacking in experience and vision and of course imported Chinese cabinetry which does little to support the local economy.  Indeed these imported cabinets send much needed foreign currency out of the Philippines and exposes the customers and their family to substandard Chinese quality and lord knows what chemicals in their particle board and paint.

So the local market in Pampanga needs a quality cabinet shop that brings in new ideas and better quality construction processes.  The local shops use antiquated methods, cutting parts by hand when a proper machine is needed for accuracy.   Their finishing is done without a proper spray booth, with cabinets being sprayed improperly, leading to poor interior finish and substandard exterior finish thickness.    Flor and Jannyn are bringing a much better quality cabinet to the market.

Our Cabinets

We build all sorts of kitchen, office, closet, and CR cabinets.   We do stick to only engineered materials, no natural wood cabinets at this time due to the termite problem (anay) in the Philippines.   The other problem with natural wood cabinets is the stability of the wood as properly kiln dried hardwood lumber in the Philippines is difficult to find that is actually dried properly to the correct moisture content, stored properly to keep it dry, and in the right thickness for making doors and drawer fronts.

With the natural wood difficulties that leaves engineered  wood products like MDF and plywood.  Particle board is not suitable for cabinets in our opinion other than the lowest price disposable cabinet market which we do not serve.

MDF is Medium Density Fiberboard, a very stiff, strong, and flat material that termites (anay) dislike eating due to the glue used in making the sheets.  It is the preferred material due to the lack of voids in the core and the flatness and stability of the materials.  You can paint it, run it through a shaper and make fancy five part and raised panel doors, or you can cover it with plastic laminate and use a flat slab door.

Marine plywood can also be used although it will have voids in the middle of the panel that can cause problems when hanging door hinges and drawer slides.   Marine plywood is more expensive but much lighter weight so it is easier to handle in big sheets.  That lack of density though means that screws and nails do not hold as well as they will in MDF.  There is a widespread belief though in customer’s minds that a plywood cabinet is better when in fact it is not actually better.

Both MDF and marine plywood can be painted but the marine plywood is a lot rougher in texture so it is best to use marine plywood if demanded by the customer on the cabinet boxes, drawer boxes, and toe kick, then use MDF for the exposed end panels, doors, and drawer fronts.

U.S. style vanity cabinets for the CR

If you are going to consider putting wood cabinets in a CR it can be done only if you first make sure the CR stays dry!  That means separating the shower area from the vanity that holds the sink.  Click on the blue link above for more information.

We can build office cabinets for both home offices and commercial offices as well as library cabinets for storing books or binders, either in high style or as a basic commercial style. Click on the blue link above for more information.

Plastic laminate actually is not supposed to be installed on marine plywood according to the plastic laminate manufacturers as the plywood is not as stable as  MDF or particle board.  In practice though customers demand marine plywood so this is generally mentioned to the customer and if the attempt at education doesn’t work most cabinetmakers will use the marine plywood after warning the customer.  The lack of stability generally leads to the laminate pulling loose as the plywood shrinks and expands, less of a problem in cabinet boxes but a big problem if on a door, drawer front, or exposed end panel.

These slab door styles are limited to slab only, not easy to make a slab door with an opening for glass.  You can use an aluminum door frame if you have a large budget or switch to a cope and stick door like a five part door and prepare the back of the cabinet door for a glass panel.

Door and drawer knobs and pulls are available everywhere in the hardware stores but you will find the best collection of styles and the best prices purchasing through us through a catalog from one of our many suppliers.  We charge a 20% up charge on such purchases which pays us to buy the items, pay the shipping, cover any damaged or missing items in the shipment and cover the drilling of the doors and drawer fronts and installing the items.  You can provide your own hardware if you wish and install them yourself.

There are many types of organizers, pull outs, and accessories for cabinets.   You can get simple wire basket pullouts mounted on adjustable pilasters for cabinets with doors that you want pull out drawers in.  There are many types of trash cans of all sizes and designs and also some nice pull out rice bins in a wide variety of sizes.  If you have a blind corner cabinet they make half circle lazy susan shelves that pivot out or magic corners where a set of wire baskets pulls forward out of the cabinet and that pulls some hidden wire shelves forward so you can reach the items stored way back in the blind corner cabinet.  There are lazy susans, pre made in wire basket style or you can have individual large bearings and each shelf can pivot on its own.  The pre made lazy susans have wire fences, the shop made shelf type lazy susans usually do not have a fence but items rarely fall off a lazy susan as they are generally moved just a quarter turn left or right in use.

There are all sorts of pull down shelves for upper cabinets, spice racks, pot racks, just a huge variety of nifty accessories that make storage easier and allow you to store more if you have a tiny kitchen.  Closets have pull down clothes racks, nice stainless steel or aluminum clothes rods, tie racks, jewelry racks, shoe racks, even pants racks and belt racks.

Want to know more about how we build our cabinets?

How much are cabinets?  That is like asking “How much is a car?”.  It depends on what kind of car, right?  Material and hardware is way over half of the cost of cabinets and how much labor is the second largest cost.  Click on the blue link above to learn more.

Our Shop Info Click Here

We have a nice big shop, around 300 square meters with nice tall ceilings, a heavy power supply, and enough room to have a showroom, office, machine area, and a finishing area.  Having the proper room for equipment and being able to finish cabinets or install laminate while parts are being cut out is important and also expensive.   Yet we are able to save labor on building cabinets with the nice equipment and do a better quality cabinet than a craftsman working on site or out of a small shop.  Click on the blue link above to see pictures of our shop and learn more.
